CPS: Distribution Voltage Regulation (DVR)
Understanding and mastering distribution voltage regulations is essential
for any engineer involved in electric power system operation. Growing load
demands and changing equipment applications also affect distribution voltage
regulation.
The Cooper Power Systems/Missouri University of Science &
Technology three-day Distribution Voltage Regulation Workshop offers the
training you need to apply voltage regulation equipment such as capacitors and
regulators. Theory is put into practice. You will learn how to solve real world
problems facing you outside the classroom, and receive the hands-on training
that makes the concepts concrete.
In Three Days You Will Learn
Fundamentals of distribution system voltage regulation
Capacitor and regulator operational characteristics
Protection of capacitors and regulators
Economics of voltage control
Capacitor applications
Power factor control
Harmonics and ferroresonance on the system
Coordination of regulator and capacitor operation
Trends in voltage regulation
Attendees Any utility, industrial and consulting engineer involved in distribution
voltage regulation and power factor correction on electric power systems will
benefit. The course is designed for practicing engineers familiar with
distribution equipment, philosophy and operation.
Instructors All instructors are degreed engineers with practical knowledge and industry
experience in distribution overcurrent protection.
Instructor teams are made up of experts from industry and the academic
world. These individuals have many years of experience in power engineering
applications or power engineering education. All instructors possess advanced
degrees in electrical engineering with specialization in electric power
systems.

Important Benefits Other workshops cannot provide the combination of experienced engineers,
hands-on learning, technical information, a comprehensive reference manual and
custom software.
Cooper Power Systems and Missouri University of Science & Technology
offers the unique combination of real world, everyday problem-solving skills,
and instructors with extensive hands-on field experience.
The comprehensive reference manual, specially prepared for the Distribution
Voltage Regulation Workshop, is a thorough, professional resource written by
Cooper Power Systems engineers with practical information to help you
accomplish your day-to-day objectives. The Appendices include articles and
papers on capacitors and regulators.
Travel and Lodging Participants are responsible for travel and living expenses and making
their own reservations. Lunches and refreshments at breaks are included in the
fee.
Course Units This course awards 21 PDHs (Professional Development Hours), equivalent to
2.1 CEUs.
In-House Training The CPS/Missouri S&T Systems Integration Workshops are available for
in-house training. The cost for the three-day courses are $20,500 for the
Distribution OverCurrent Protection workshop, $19,900 for all other three-day
courses and $14,500 for the two-day courses. Please contact Dr. Keith Stanek at
Missouri S&T's Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at (573)
341-4545 for additional information about on-site training.
