CPS: Distribution OverCurrent Protection (OCP)
In Cooper Power Systems/Missouri University of Science & Technology's
three-day Distribution OverCurrent Protection Workshop, you will learn how to
apply overcurrent protection schemes. Theory is put into practice while you
solve practical, real-life problems. You will leave with the knowledge and
tools to coordinate overcurrent devices most effectively.
In Three Days You Will Learn Coordination procedures to incorporate into your daily routine. These
include:
Nature of Faults
Short-circuit Calculations
Symmetrical Components & One-line Diagrams
Relays and Circuit Breakers
Reclosers & Sectionalizers
Expulsion & Current-limiting Fuses
Transformer & Capacitor Protection
Power Quality and Reliability Issues
Example Calculation
Attendees Any engineer who is involved with design or operation of overcurrent
protection schemes for utilities or industry.
Instructors All instructors are degreed engineers with practical knowledge and industry
experience in distribution overcurrent protection.
Instructor teams are made up of experts from industry and the academic
world. These individuals have many years of experience in power engineering
applications or power engineering education. All instructors possess advanced
degrees in electrical engineering with specialization in electric power
systems.

Important Benefits
Other workshops cannot provide the combination of experienced engineers,
hands-on learning, technical information, a comprehensive reference manual and
custom software.
Cooper Power Systems and Missouri University of Science & Technology
offers the unique combination of real world, everyday problem-solving skills,
and instructors with extensive hands-on field experience.
The comprehensive reference manual, specially prepared for the Distribution
OverCurrent Protection Workshop, is a thorough, professional resource written
by Cooper Power Systems engineers with practical information to help you
accomplish your day-to-day objectives.
Travel and Lodging Participants are responsible for travel and living expenses and making
their own reservations. Lunches and refreshments at breaks are included in the
fee.
Why do people choose CPS/Missouri S&T workshops? Let the participants tell you … “Your work experience, related to what we do in the field, helps a
lot."
"The course let me see how some of the system components fit into the
overall operation rather than just modeling them to fit programs."
"I liked the pace of the seminar. It gave me a good understanding of how
voltage regulations affects the quality of power delivered."
In-House Training The CPS/Missouri S&T Systems Integration Workshops are available for
in-house training. The cost for the three-day courses are $20,500 for the
Distribution OverCurrent Protection workshop, $19,900 for all other three day
courses and $14,500 for the two-day courses within the continental United
States. Workshops outside of the continental United States will have to be
priced individually. Please contact Dr. Keith Stanek at Missouri S&T's
Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at (573) 341-4545 for
additional information about on-site training.
Course Units Completion of this workshop awards 21 PDHs (Professional Development
Hours), equivalent to 2.1 CEUs.
