CPS: Capacitor Applications & Protection (CAP)
Even if You Have a Practical Background in Capacitor
Application, There is More to Learn.
Capacitors are one of the least understood, yet most beneficial components
of the power system. The financial benefits to voltage support and power factor
correction cannot be overlooked. This workshop will teach you the operational
techniques of good capacitor application. In the Cooper Power Systems' Power
Capacitor Application & Protection Workshop, you will receive hands-on
training to help you visualize the concepts. Throughout the sessions, voltage
support and power factor problems are worked to give you a thorough working
knowledge of power capacitor benefits.
In Three Days You Will Learn
The fundamentals, application guidelines and special consideration of power
capacitors
Power system and capacitor basics
Testing
Capacitor controls and bank design
Unbalance detection schemes and optimizing performance and costs are just a
few of the other course topics presented
Attendees Any engineer who is involved in applying capacitors in distribution
substations, on distribution lines and transmission systems will benefit.
Instructors All instructors are degreed engineers with practical knowledge and industry
experience in distribution overcurrent protection.
Instructor teams are made up of experts from industry and the academic
world. These individuals have many years of experience in power engineering
applications or power engineering education. All instructors possess advanced
degrees in electrical engineering with specialization in electric power
systems.
Important Benefits Other workshops cannot provide the combination of experienced engineers,
hands-on learning, and technical information as well as a comprehensive
reference manual.
Cooper Power Systems/University of Missouri-Rolla offers the unique
combination of real world, everyday problem-solving skills. Instructors are
experts in the field of power capacitors with hands-on, practical
experience.
The comprehensive reference manual, specially prepared for the Capacitor
Applications & Protection workshop, is a thorough, professional resource
written by Cooper Power Systems' engineers with practical information,
including TCC curves, to help you accomplish your day-to-day objectives.
Why do people choose CPS/Missouri S&T
workshops? Let the participants tell you... "Very informative workshop, which balanced the theory with practical
application."
"I liked the 'textbook' idea that you have."
"Instructors were knowledgeable and could answer all questions and give real-life examples."
Course Units Attendees of this course will earn 21 PDHs (Professional Development
Hours), equivalent to 2.1 CEUs.
Travel and Lodging Participants are responsible for travel and living expenses and making
their own reservations. Lunches and refreshments at breaks are included in the
fee.
In-House Training The CPS/Missouri S&T System Integration Workshops are available for
in-house training. The cost for the three-day courses are $20,500 for the
Distribution OverCurrent Protection workshop, $19,500 for all other three day
courses, and $14,500 for the two-day courses within the continental United
States. Please contact Dr. Keith Stanek at Missouri S&T's Department of
Electrical & Computer Engineering at (573) 341-4545 for additional
information about on-site training.
