Master's Degree Applicants
For students applying directly into a graduate degree program (not starting with a certificate) the following materials (listed below) are required. Be prepared to have the materials scanned and ready to be uploaded/entered once you start the online application. If for some reason you are unable to have everything when applying: we still encourage you to start your application, but please note we will be unable to process it without having each item listed below.

*Not needed for Geotechnics students. S&T Alumni applying for the Engineering Management MS may list 3 faculty members they had had as an undergrad you would like to use as references. Upload this list as a word document under “portfolio”.
** Only needed for students applying for the Psychological Science, Computer, Electrical, Civil or Environmental Engineering MS programs.
Alumni applying directly into a graduate degree program (not starting with a certificate):
Requirements may vary, for example: some departments do not require GRE scores from graduates of certain programs who meet a minimum GPA requirement. Please contact the Global Learning Office regarding your specific program.
Complete the online application. When you start a new application select "Graduate Online/Distance".
Statement of Purpose
2-3 paragraphs explaining why you are applying for this program. Statement is to be submitted electronically on the online application; you'll copy and paste it into the provided text box.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for an admit decision.
Upload your transcripts on the online application under your "Institutional Data". PDF scans are preferred. The University will require official transcripts from all schools attended before a student may register for a second semester from S&T. In order for a transcript to be counted as official it must be sent directly from the school to S&T, it cannot come from a student. Official transcripts should be mailed to the Global Learning Office:

GRE/GMAT scores are only required for students applying directly into a master’s program (not for those opting to start with a graduate certificate). Any department will accept GRE scores. The Business and IST departments will also accept GMAT scores. S&T’s GRE Test center code is: 6876. Upload your unofficial GRE/GMAT scores on the online application under "Test Scores".
The University will require official GRE/GMAT scores before a student may register for a second semester from S&T. GRE scores are required of all PhD applicants (even for students who may have started with a graduate certificate).
Letters of Recommendation
When applying you will list your recommenders and provide their email addresses. They will receive an email informing them of your request. After a period of time, they will receive a reminder if they have not provided a recommendation.
Some programs will require a resume when applying. Check with your specific department’s requirements if you are not sure if this applies to you. Upload your resume on the online application under your "Portfolio". PDF or JPG file formats are preferred.
